Workshops

We have a great list of sessions for the event!

How to manage your time (and identity)

Attendees will leave the workshop with a veritable dashboard of buttons (tricks to use) and levers (strategies to implement) as they build the shameless life of their dreams.

Bookstagrammers and Influencers: How to find them, pitch them, and get them to review your book

If you’ve ever wondered how to find bookstagrammers and bigger influencers, this workshop is for you! If you’re ready to promote a new release or revive an already published title, pitching to influential online agents and bookstagrammers can be the key to your success.

Clarify the vision of your novel: what is your story about?

Learn how to write a focused story by clarifying the important questions of the story. Clarifying the vision of your book will help you write a compelling story that will capture the attention of readers and that you can then easily sell.

Creating effective and realistic dialog

You’ve started your book. You have a basic idea of what you plan to write (genre and length) and understand the conflict your characters will face. But to be intriguing, your characters need not only internal conflict, but also dialog that is appropriate and effective for them. In addition, the dialog that takes place between the characters must convey the necessary information. The key is not to give too much information. You want the reader to intuit any secondary meaning in the words, as well as the emotions and intentions behind the words.

Deep dive into developmental editing

As an author, you’ve probably heard that some of your fellow writers use a developmental editor for their romance novels. But what is a developmental editor? Do you need one? Why?

We’ll look at what a developmental editor looks for, including the story arc, plot holes, tropes, characters, setting, and inconsistencies. We’ll also talk about who would be the best developmental editor for your work? How do I find a developmental editor? What your developmental editor expects from you. What you should expect from your developmental editor.

Empowering the inner you

In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to identify your true value through a series of exercises, starting with a terrific exercise called the mirror effect. The mirror effect teaches us to empower ourselves by looking in the mirror and saying positive affirmations to ourselves. You will learn exactly what affirmations are and how to create personalized affirmations just for you. I know what you’re thinking. How can looking in the mirror make such a difference? Then I would ask you when was the last time you looked in the mirror and said something positive to yourself. You will leave this workshop feeling truly empowered for the days ahead!
